This is my entry for 's contest, which had been posted last Feb. 8, 2005.
Yes, I do read journals.
When I read it a few weeks ago, I had been working on "No Alliance in Love". I thought, if I finish the series before Feb. 28, maybe I can try joining her contest. I did finish a few days ago. So I drew my "family portrait" of Robin, Starfire, and their son Jason (at least, their son in 's fanfic) while I was in the office (on a holiday... grr... ) yesterday.
The reason why I ended up inking and coloring it so late is that because I had been suffering from confidence issues. I was half tempted to erase the whole thing and start all over to see if I can make them thinner, but thanks to you all, I didn't bother anymore. Perhaps I'll just try to draw them thinner some other time...
Seriously. For all who had replied to my question, thanks a lot.
At first I planned on giving Robin sunglasses (I just can't imagine him wearing his mask while playing with his son...) - I didn't want to guess what his eyes look like. If anything, I almost believe that if he removed his mask, there won't be anything underneath it at all!! But then, I didn't think the sunglasses would look nice either. So off with that mask/glasses!!
Inked in Painter, colored in Photoshop. It's safe to say that this is another "Fun with Gradients" piece, but a lot less lazy one. I used three different kinds of darker colors in order to do the shading this time. The effect is a smoother transition between colors. Or so I think. Anyway, I still used airbrush while coloring the pic every now and then, but I stuck with gradients whenever possible.
